“Each piece represents an element of my life’s work.
I give the world what I feel and see artistically.”
– Sir Lawrence DeLouvre, 1946 - 2013
Creativity and imagination poured out of his pores like sweat on a hot day.
Sir Lawrence was a pure and true artist. Art was his life, his escape, his
communion with nature, his connection with people, his pain, sorrow, passion
and joy.
A piece of driftwood became a canvas. A broken branch and few twigs,
a sculpture. Small, large and colorful pieces of fabric would transform into
costumes and decorations. A walkin closet became a magical bedroom.
People would become moving and dancing sculptures. A pen and paper,
a mystical story. Colorful crayons, paint, clay, metal, sand and dirt, he used all;
just like spices on poultry or veggies in the oven. He would create magic for
all of our senses to enjoy, or just let us be part of his dreams for awhile.
